Deer Island is a place I started frequenting around March 2020, after being stuck inside all the time at the start of the pandemic. At first, I would go for a drive and then stop and sit in the parking lot, my car becoming the home that I didn't have at the time. Eventually, I began wandering through the brief trees and marshes that make up Deer Island. It became a small haven for me, and after work, became a place of respite.
After a few months, I noticed that I wasn't the only one suddenly stopping at the small parking lot between Amesbury and Newburyport Massachusetts. Eventually, more and more people would pause for a moment to enjoy a beautiful landscape that in the past was just passed by.
This will be a place where I will continue to put photos of Deer Island, throughout the seasons. Its a wonder that such a small place can go through so much change. If you haven't ever been, take a moment to stop by yourself and appreciate the immense magic found within that small expanse of trees.
